Self Help Tips:
I CAN FIX
THIS
A Paper Jam That Doesn’t Clear
If you have a jam that wont clear, check
the door located below the duplex/bypass
doors (Right side of copier). To see the
hidden door you need to get down on one
knee and look below the duplex/bypass
doors and just above the LCC access door
(If equipped with an LCC.).
Very important: Resist the temptation of
turning the power off to clear this jam
because doing so can corrupt the hard
drive in the machine, cause a loss of
data and most definitely prolonged down
time. Use the procedure listed above to
turn the copier off.
Things You Should Know About
Paper Sizes and the Bypass tray
The bypass tray is not considered
a permanent paper source
therefore each time you place paper into
the bypass tray a screen will pop up
asking you which sized paper you've
inserted. On the screen that pops up,
after adding paper, you only need to be
concerned with the copy column.
Select the size needed (See the guide
below for the common paper sizes.). The
only time the size window will not come
up is when the paper runs out while
doing a job in which case you will be
prompted to place the same sized paper
that the current job was utilizing
before it ran out.
Paper sizes listed are:
LT is 8-1/2x11 letter portrait (often
referred to Letter Speed). LT-R stands
for 8-1/2 x 11 (Originally known as
Letter Reduction) and is placed in the
cassette landscape. LG stands for Legal
or 8-1/2 x 14. LD is 11x17 also known as
Ledger. ST stands for Statement
portrait, 8-1/2 x 5-1/2. ST-R is
Statement Reduction set landscape.
*If APS is turned on place paper in
the bypass
While printing to the copier you receive
a message that says “Please place paper
in the bypass” or similar message, this
indicates a print job was sent that is
supposed to go on to a paper size not
currently loaded in the copier. Press
the Job Status button. On the Job Status
screen, look carefully at the top edge
of that screen for the message about
adding paper and you will probably see a
set of letters corresponding to one of
the paper sizes listed above. Very
Important: Only place the size indicated
in Job Status in the bypass! Placing the
wrong size in the bypass will result in
paper stopping inside the machine.
Reading the Meter on “5” Series
Machines
(255,355,455,555,655,855)
On the control panel there is a button
specifically for reading the meter.
Printing the meter counts out can also
be done in the same manor. After
entering the meter count screen there is
a button specifically for printing the
meter counts.
If you are still having trouble locating
the meter counts: Locate the
button on the control panel with the
symbol “123” next to it. Pressing or
pressing and holding the “123” marked
key will cause the meter to be
displayed.
Daylight Savings Time
On copiers with a clock button on the
time change screen the button should be
high lighted (darkened) indicating
Daylight Saving Time.
Pressing the
button will cause the time to jump an
hour ahead (lightened). So on November
(Check the Internet for the date for a
given year) the button should not be
darkened.
If the time doesn't match the
current setting of the clock button
please correct the time.
Newer copiers, ones without the clock
button on the time change screen,
Daylight Savings Time can be set using
Top Access.
The dates that the time
change happens can also be done using
Top Access. If the copier isn't
connected time changes for Daylight
Savings Time setting should be done
through the User Function button in the
Administrator mode
Print out a meter report to verify that
the date and time are correct. |
